Bamb\u00f9, Musa basjoo e ginkgo richiamano atmosfere dell\u2019Estremo Oriente; le magnolie a fiore grande, le agavi, le yucca, i cipressi e i papaveri californiani raccontano paesaggi centroamericani.<\/p><p>Salvia, rosmarino, querce da sughero e palme delle Canarie restituiscono invece la luce e i profumi della campagna mediterranea.<\/p><p>Un insieme di paesaggi botanici che si intrecciano senza soluzione di continuit\u00e0, dando forma a un giardino vivo e stratificato, in dialogo costante con il lago.<\/p><p>Gli ospiti dell\u2019albergo possono vivere il giardino in piena St.Leger, e la moglie russa Antoinette, acquistarono le Isole di Brissago. Costruirono una grande casa sull&#8217;Isola Grande e iniziarono a creare il giardino botanico, trasportando in barca terra e concime sull&#8217;isola. Dodici anni dopo, Richard Fleming lasci\u00f2 le isole per Napoli, mentre sua moglie Antoinette rimase e continu\u00f2 ad accrescere il giardino.<\/p><p>Dal 1886 in poi, Antoinette trasform\u00f2 le isole in una residenza creativa, invitando artisti e scultori come Daniele Ranzoni, Filippo Franzoni e Giovanni Segantini, scrittori come James Joyce, Rainer Maria Rilke e Harry Graf Kessler e il compositore Ruggero Leoncavallo. Lo Stato del Cantone Ticino, i tre comuni rivieraschi di Ascona, Brissago e Ronco s\/Ascona, la Lega Svizzera per la difesa del patrimonio nazionale (oggi Heimatschutz Svizzera) e quella per la protezione della natura (oggi ProNatura) acquistarono le Isole e il Palazzo. Il contratto di acquisto, sottoscritto il 2 settembre 1949, stabiliva con lungimiranza che \u201cle Isole e gli stabili saranno destinati unicamente a scopi di conservazione e valorizzazione delle bellezze naturali, a scopi culturali, scientifici, turistici\u201d. Il 2 aprile 1950, la mattina della domenica delle Palme, le porte del Parco botanico delle Isole di Brissago furono aperte al pubblico.<\/p><p>Nel 2019 le Isole di Brissago sono state acquisite da parte del Cantone
